University of Joensuu Language Centre According to the present degree system, students at Finnish universities are required to take advanced level courses in both official languages of the country (Finnish and Swedish) and in at least one foreign language. The aim of the Langag Centre is to provide students with language skills which are needed both for studying and for later professional purposes. The courses are primarily aimed at the students and scholars of the University but, in principal, are open to anyone interested in language learning, i.e. also to non-enrolled students.
